[ Weekend ]

Hi everyone!
Happy Labor Day :)

My hubs is working today (yay to double-time, but boo to him being gone) and I spent the morning not laboring. Hehehe. I had some trouble coming alive (thanks, little-blue-Costco-sleeping-pill) in time to take Hartley to Petsmart to get his routine puppy shots. It's hard to see your baby get poked and prodded and cry.... I can't imagine how difficult it is when it's a real, human baby.
Wowzers!

Oh.... before I forget! This is newsworthy, people.
I got a latte from Starbucks this morning before the appointment... it was the first drink from Starbucks I have had in a VERY.LONG.TIME (and that's saying a lot from this former barista). I arrived at the drive-thru and noticed that the Pumpkin Spice Latte was not out yet (sad face), but I figured I would give it a shot & ask... ta da!! The super-nice-barista-girl said she would make it for me, even though the official launch date is still a few days away. I almost got out of my car and gave her a hug. The warm, tasty drink sent happiness straight down my body and has left me in eager anticipation for autumn today. It's the little things.

Now we are home, listening to "Mumford & Sons," drooling over food pictures on Pinterest, and enjoying the pitter-patter of rain (again).

Here are some pics of our "weekend" on Friday and Saturday.

We went on a little road trip with friends of ours from San Diego (they recently moved here, as well), stopping along the way for some tasty shaved ice. My favorite part of the trip was getting caught in a massive thunder and lightning storm while taking the SUV off-roading. The day ended back in town, with an impromtu stop for beers, nachos, and artichoke dip during happy hour.

Also squeezed in there this weekend was some sunbathing with Hartley on the balcony (before he wimped out and got too hot), house hunting, going to bed way too early last night (just call me grandma), all of that not-so-fun-stuff (laundry, cooking, doing the dishes, picking up dog poop-- oh yeahhhh) and also a few walks around the neighborhood with our favorite little guy.
