A few weeks ago, I went on a short trip home to San Diego to see my family and friends... my primary purpose of being in-town was to not miss our dear friends' baby shower! Joshua unfortunately couldn't get the time off of work, so I made the treck out alone-- boy did he miss out and boy was he missed! The shower was amazing and it was so good to see faces of friends that are like family. Aimee & Jered are expecting little Carter in mid-November-- a few days shy of our 5 year wedding anniversary. I secretly hope the guy comes on our special day! :) Carter has been a very long-awaited little fellow. I can't wait to squeeze his little cheeks and touch his baby toes.
I'm thankful for friendship like the kind Joshua & I have with Aimee & Jered. It's the kind of relationship that mirrors that of a family: the ability to withstand the highs and lows of life and the changes that come when you live long distance. A kind of friendship where there are those secret, mutual understandings...Where you know you'll always have each others' backs and will mutually fight for your relationship to stay watered and nourished like a well-tended-to garden.
I can not think of two better parents-to-be.
