Almost Closing Time

[all pictures via]

It's almost closing time. This is the part of home buying that really drags.
The house that we are buying was the very first house we looked at.
We put in an offer 3 days later.
We were in a bidding war (since it's bank-owned) with 4 other people.
A week later, we won.

We fought like crazy to get this one specific document that was needed from Bank of America (since they "own" the house, I strongly dislike you, Bank of America!!) even though we were financed through Wells Fargo. When no one could properly help me, I had to resort to calling up the corporate latter for days on end until I finally had a lady in their financing department over in NYC help me out and do the job right.
People, I fought for this house.

After we won the bid, everything went super fast. General inspection, appraisal, termite inspection, and final inspection.

Now, we are just playing the waiting game waiting for the bank to release one specific document that releases the escrow papers which then releases the keys into our hands.

We really need prayer today that this happens today or tomorrow so that we can get the keys by Friday because my hard-working husband has been working 10 miserably long days in order for him to take a 4-day weekend off so that we can get this house move-in ready (since it's been abandoned for 10 months). I think we'll be super bummed if we're sitting around all weekend just waiting. But oh well, we'll make the most of it and go see "The Hunger Games" again or something. We always do.

But please, pray hard, wont'cha? :)

In the meantime, it's my job today to really come up with some concrete decisions about paint colors and whatnot. I have to confess that I've really dropped the ball on this. I think with a baby on the way, packing up the townhouse, babysitting a puppy and trying to maintain some sanity (and sleep!), I haven't really thought too much about this. I need to get moving!

We went to Home Depot (or Home Desperate, as Joshua liked to call it) and picked out some general paint colors that we like. We are definitely doing light grey walls in baby girl's nursery, and some grey throughout the house. We also found a really pretty buttermilk color and a really gorgeous sage green color for the kitchen. Sometime before April 30th (when our current lease is up), we'll be (or I should say, Joshua will be) pulling up the old carpet, painting all 2,100 square feet, installing carpet upstairs (well, Home Desperate will be), painting the current kitchen cabinets (they're in great shape but we don't like the color), laying down laminate hardwood floors downstairs, and cleaning the house like crazy.

So if you don't hear from me, that's why. Thank you in advance for your prayers for our sanity! And pray that we get the keys this week! :) xo

The only room in the house that's painted, ironically the room we'll use for the nursery. And yes, we are repainting, and no, it will not be purple or pink // Shopping for paint colors last night
