House Build: Kitchen So Far

Cabinets were installed late last week and we are loving what we are seeing so far. It is really hard to design a home based strictly on your imagination, and right now we are really happy with our choices. We are planning on painting the kitchen a shade of grey ("Grey Owl" by Benjamin Moore) that is a little darker than the living room color ("Moonshine" by Benjamin Moore). Once we get some color on the walls, the color is really going to pop! I love the look of white cabinets and thick, white trim, blinds and molding against a great wall color (like this, swoon!). We opted out of handles on the cabinets to save money and will install them down the road ourselves. I am SO glad we did white cabinets (thank you friends, you know who you are, that helped us decide!). So far, our home is bright, airy, and has a ton of natural lighting. My least favorite thing about our last home was the lack of natural lighting and the floor plan, two things that are completely different about this home.

We have had a really easy experience with this home build so far. It's a track home in a master-planned community and even though there are so many other homes being built, we really have been taken care of just like it was a custom-build. There were a few minor things that happened but nothing that was the builder's fault or that held up our construction. No horror stories here! The house is being completed on time and everything has been done as communicated. We feel so blessed to have sold our last house so fast and that this dream has become a reality.
